Keller Executive Search recently conducted a study that was featured on AOL to find out which US states have the highest job availability. The study used data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics to compare job vacancy rates against the average population in 10 states from 2019 to 2024. Job availability rates above 6% were treated as an indicator of a high demand for workers.

Some other important points from the study:

  • Alaska had a higher demand for workers than any other state at 7.3%
  • West Virginia came in second at 6.7%
  • Montana was third at 6.4%
  • South Carolina (6.3%), Georgia (6.2%), Maryland (6.1%), Wyoming (6.1%), New Mexico (6.06%), North Carolina (6.0%), and Virginia (6.0%) rounded out the top 10

Keller Executive Search noted that there was no clear regional pattern to the high demand for jobs, with the states with the most vacancies ranging from the East Coast and Midwest to the American South and Southwest.

About AOL

Formerly known as America Online, AOL is an American web portal and online service provider that has been running for more than forty years. It pioneered the mass adoption of the Internet for consumers in the 1990s through its dial-up service, becoming a well-known household brand for millions of Americans.

As broadband eventually replaced dial-up technology, AOL changed its business model and now runs as a digital media and advertising company.
