More Employees Say They Want To Work Remotely: Why Employers Should Offer Flexible Work Arrangements

3 min read

Senior Recruitment Consultant Julia Yurchak of Keller Executive Search was quoted in a National Daily Press article about the rising demand among employees for employers to offer more opportunities for remote work.

In the article, “Why Employers Must Offer Remote Work – 70% of Candidates Say It’s a Top Priority”, Julia gave insights into why remote work options have become so important for employers trying to attract skilled employees. Julia shared some flexible working options businesses can consider where fully remote roles aren’t an option.

Julia made the following important points in her commentary:

Improved work-life balance and job satisfaction: Remote work can help employees better manage their personal responsibilities, avoid lengthy commutes, and work in an environment wherein they feel the most productive. It can also improve job satisfaction, which can lead to a more engaged workforce.

Wider available talent pool: Being able to work from anywhere with an internet connection removes location barriers, allowing businesses to reach a more diverse group of candidates.

The hiring crisis: Finding and keeping skilled employees has become a serious challenge for many businesses. The financial and practical difficulties of recruitment are only continuing to rise. Furthermore, slow hiring processes can discourage candidates and result in businesses losing strong applicants to competitors.

Higher employee expectations: Employees now expect more from their workplaces, and companies that do not meet these expectations risk higher staff turnover.

Other flexible work arrangements: Companies that are unable to offer fully remote work options can introduce other flexible ways of working for their employees, such as hybrid working, flexible hours, compressed workweeks, part-time arrangements, and work-from-anywhere policies.

Julia’s comments give insights into the benefits of introducing remote work policies for both employers and employees.
