Keller Executive Search was recently quoted in Yahoo! Finance’s article on the US states with the largest number of vacancies. In the article titled “Looking For Your First Job? These 10 States Have the Most Job Openings”, Yahoo! Finance writer T. Woods discusses which states in the US are ideal for job seekers due to their high employment rates, and quotes Keller Executive Search’s study on the subject.
This study utilized research done by the Bureau of Labor Statistics collating job vacancy rate percentages between 2019 and 2024 against each state’s population. The study revealed a list of 10 US states with a percentage higher than 6%.
The list is as follows:
- Alaska, with a 7.3% job openings rate and a population of 733,406
- West Virginia, with a job openings rate of 6.7% and a population of 1,770,070
- Montana, boasting a population of 1,132,810 and a job opening rate of 6.4%
- South Carolina, with a job opening rate of 6.3% and population of 5,373,560
- Georgia, boasting a job openings rate of 6.2% and a population of 11,029,200
- Maryland, with a population of 6,180,250 and job opening rate of 6.1%
- Wyoming, with a 6.1% job opening rate and population of 584,057
- New Mexico, with a population of 2,114,370 and a 6.06% job openings rate
- North Carolina, which has a job opening rate of 6% and a population of 10,835,500
- And Virginia, also with a 6% job openings rate and population of 8,715,700
